About Yago
Yago aims to unlock the opportunities Singapore offers to young people. Singapore is an ideal venue to learn Chinese and at the same time immerse yourself in South East Asia and the culture, tourism and even internship opportunites the region offers.
We believe that a language holiday doesn’t stop by selecting a good language school and arranging accommodation. The activities you undertake besides your Mandarin studies will make your study trip truly memorable. Singapore, in the heart of tropical South East Asia, is a global city that offers you lots of choices, whether you are looking for night life, cultural destinations, beaches, water sports activities or even an internship.
Yago is run by Guus Goorts and Yiran You.
Guus Goorts takes care of daily affairs at Yago, and you will be in touch with him if you decide to sign up. A Dutch national, Guus has been living in Singapore since early 2006, when he took a 6-month full time Mandarin course. He decided to found Yago as he realized that few people are aware of the opportunities that Singapore holds as a place to learn Mandarin. Guus is passionate about languages and cultural exchange, and has worked as an intercultural training specialist at Cartus in Singapore. In 2004, he has founded an NGO, named OCEP, that organizes volunteer placements in Ghana. He has traveled extensively and worked on a campsite in Italy and as a volunteer teacher in Ghana. Guus holds a Masters' Degree in International Business from Maasticht University, and has spent a semester on exchange at National University of Singapore. He speaks English, Dutch and German fluently and Mandarin and Spanish at an intermediate level.
